Biography |
I have always been interested in naturopathy and have enjoyed a healthy relationship with my NDs at Natura Medica in Mystic, CT for over 40 years. Consequently, at the age of 72, I do not take pharmaceuticals, but preserve my health with whole foods, regular exercise and appropriate supplements.
I graduated from Quinnipiac University in 1971, beginning a career as a radiation therapist for Yale-New Haven Hospital for over 20 years, retiring as chief therapist in 1992, when I began working for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Career Development. Subsequently, I ran for office and was elected to the Tribal Council in 1993, completing a 3-year term. Following that, I was appointed deputy chief of staff for 4 years and then chief of staff for an additional 4 years. The stress of these jobs led me to study massage therapy while working as an executive at the Norwich Inn and Spa and Randall’s Ordinary, businesses owned by my tribe. I found that I wasn’t a good fit in this environment, so I returned to tribal government administration, until the position of director of tribal health services became available. I was offered this position, in which I worked for 4 years before retiring in 2013.
18 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and my doctor at Natura Medica made all the difference in my treatment and recovery. I am free of disease today.
I have a solid background in anatomy and physiology, and I look forward to learning naturopathy in this course.
