At 77 years old I have found myself being a widow and retired.  I decided I wanted to use some of my skills to help others.

I have 27 years of experience in Technical Recruiting.  Help others to fulfill their hopes and dreams is very important to me.  I also have a secretarial background and have worked as a volunteer in nursing homes.

Currently and am working to get my certification as an end-of-life doula.  I fill that part of life is accepting the coming of death.  I want to use what I learned at the nursing home to help patients and their familes have an easier way to dealing with a family member.  l wanted to help them in any way I can to learn and prepare for what will be happening.

While volunteering I started a coloring group, helping seniors become more active, using their minds and hands to stay alert.  To everyone’s surprise it became one of the most sought-after activities at the nursing home only beat out by bingo.  Most of my patients were dealing with Alzheimer’s or dementia.  Their families were thrilled to see their family member leave their rooms, communicate with other residents and produce lovely pictures.  For those who didn’t do as well they loved trying and being with us.

My life has been centered around helping people, helping them find what they wanted to do with their lives.  So many people think they want one thing to find that they are really better at something else.  Helping them find that spot is a very fulfilling place for me.
