In the 1990’s I was practicing as a traditional community midwife while also getting certification as a childbirth educator, doula, and lactation counselor.  Eventually a geographical move for my husband’s job resulted in me completing the requirements to become certified as a midwife as well.  My particular state does not recognize this certification for licensure, but 39 other states do.  I have practiced midwifery for almost 30 years now and have decided to retire.  I still want to be involved in maternity care so I am going to offer in-home postpartum care for new mothers and babies, and pre-conception counseling as a naturopath and NeuroToxic Assessment Practitioner.
