Biography

Dr. Chiquita D. Howard-Bostic is a mother, leader, and an educator who has dedicated her life to multi-disciplinary and global teaching, training, research, and service. She has generated social change as a university administrator and faculty member, and as a community developer. For over 20 years, she has worked closely with government officials and professionals to service local and global communities. Her career goal is to encourage individuals to achieve lasting positive change. Howard-Bostic received a Ph.D. in Sociology, a teaching certificate in Women’s Studies, and a Race and Social Policy research certification at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2011. She earned a Masters in Urban Planning with a specialization in Urban Management in 2001 and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Legal Studies and English from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) in 1999. She received multiple collegiate awards including the Citizen’s Scholar service award at Virginia Tech, and the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Fellowship, Outstanding Master’s Thesis, and Graduate School Dean’s Award for a 4.0 GPA at UB. She also served as the executive director of housing and human services at FLARE, Inc. in Buffalo, New York. Howard-Bostic is currently the executive director of Help Bridge, Inc. Howard-Bostic is a former Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and college director of institutional assessment.
