Marissa Etta Kay is a visual abstract artist residing in the outer edges of Detroit, Michigan. Marissa’s sole focus with her art is to portray her viewpoint of life and nature through emotion and color. Her medium of choice is acrylic paint but she also explores oils, watercolors, chalks, pastels, and other mixed media.

Marissa has maintained a life long passion for art and creativity with the interests in fashion, music, writing, and makeup artistry. In the more recent years, Marissa decided to explore painting and began to make room in her life for active participation in the evolution of her artistic adventure. She flourished.

Life can change in a moment and our ability to adapt, to cope, to lose, to focus and to overcome is what helps us in the pursuit of the real beauty that life has to offer. Marissa shares work that reflects all of those emotions that are evoked by our experiences and the time period we are living in today. Moving through her work are feelings of fear, duty, worry, and sadness all the way to the other side of the spectrum where recovery, gratitude, hope and happiness dominate. Marissa’s intention is to portray a sense of moving forward seeing more beauty in everyday things, living simpler, and loving more.
