Biography |
My name is Jameelah Abdi Wajid. I am a Registered Nurse who have a desire to help my community in health from a holistic approach. As a Nurse, I am trained to look at the whole of a person, not just a disease process. There are many factors that causes and keep people in the illness category of the health-illness continuum. Me being on of those persons. I am a survivor of 3 Autoimmune disease processes. 12 years ago, I did not know what was happening with my body. I was the one that worked out regularly, taught Zumba classes, very active, mentally clear, and vibrant. Then, I started feeling mental fog, I had to have 2 surgeries within 4 months of each other for issues that I was having, and then the body pains, the lack of proper recovery, feeling down and depressed, and going from specialist to specialist trying to get answers as to what is wrong, with test saying one thing, but other test not meeting to “certain criteria.” It has been an exhausting journey! I went through this for 9 out of the 12 years on this journey before I decided let me help myself, because the healthcare industry is failing me. I started reading about my symptoms and other means to alleviate them via herbalism, breathing techniques, somatic exercises, and mindfulness. Like clients that I have, I too am not always consistent. I feel becoming a Holistic Practitioner will allow me to gain more knowledge that will not only help me develop a plan for other, but also one for myself and my family. I have goals for this life, and that is to be happy, healthy, and thrive, and commit to helping others do the same!
