Biography
Biography | For the past four years, I have dedicated my time and expertise as an Art Docent for my daughter’s class, nurturing young minds and fostering a love for art and creativity among students. This volunteer role has not only allowed me to contribute to the educational experience of children but has also enriched my own perspective as a parent. My daughter is also on the Autism Spectrum and struggles with ADHD which we have to use medication to help treat. We’ve met a number of other parent’s that have a similar situation and I’ve volunteered as an Art Docent during her years in an Autism Inclusion pre-school program through our local Children’s hospital. Doing art with those young children with these special needs really opened my eyes to the need for art exposure. As a seasoned creative professional with a diverse skill set and a deep commitment to both artistic expression and nurturing young minds, I bring a unique blend of experience to every endeavor. With over a decade of expertise in event design, a passion for photography, and formal education in commercial art & design and Interior Design, I have honed my abilities to seamlessly blend aesthetics with functionality across various domains. Beyond my professional pursuits, I am also a devoted parent to a vibrant 10-year-old, a role that has instilled in me a profound sense of importance for fostering creativity and imagination that is much needed in our elementary school curriculum. Combining my professional expertise with my roles as a parent and a volunteer, I am driven to make a positive impact through creativity, education, and meaningful connections. My personal and professional life’s experiences along with my daughter’s inspiration, has brought me to this moment in time to launch my art venture, Young Artists Workshop. It’s begun as an after-school art program and I have aspirations to expand beyond that in the very near future with Art Summer Camps, Kid’s Art Birthday parties and weekend art events in local parks. To date, I’ve already had 59 elementary school students from 1st grade through 5th grade come through my after-school art workshops which run for 8 weeks per series. I have 2 current workshops in session per week. After reading through the modules for this certificate program, I immediately realized how I could easily apply this in my workshops, helping me with all the different students I’m already working with after-school. I’m looking forward to jumping into this program and learning everything I can to improve on what I already have in place. |
