I am really hopeful that this course will open a few new doors for me as I pair new skills with my existing talents as a caregiver to enter the field of therapeutic process art. I became an RN in 2009, and after nearly 14 years in that role I decided not to renew my license last year (2024). I have been on both sides of care; the giving side and the receiving side. By the time I was in treatment for my mental health and career burnout, I needed so much more help than I could have even imagined beforehand. Thankfully through my own recovery process I have learned so much about healing the heart and mind in this tough world. Art therapy has been one of my favorite modalities because I found it to be so pressure relieving and joyful. It is so wonderful to be a part of this online community and I am looking forward to seeing where this all leads to! It is my hope to use my creativity and the certificate I earn to lead therapeutic process art making groups.
