Biography

Biography

I am a healthcare chaplain with over 30 years experience in spiritual direction. I am a board certified chaplain and I hold a doctorate from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Christian Spirituality within healthcare.

My book, “Pandemic Theology: Listen, Lament and Labor,” is an adaptation of my doctoral work of interviewing healthcare professionals throughout the United States concerning the spirituality or matters of faith that emerged while directly caring for COVID patients. Therein they speak of places where they saw aspects of faith/religion both positively and negatively; aspects of their own personal spirituality emerge; and a look at what emerged as a healthy spirituality in relating with the sick and the dying. That healthy spirituality is summarized from a three fold way of being with the sick, “listen, lament and labor.”

I am also a cartoonist and have enjoyed the spiritually nurturing affects this medium has within my own “self-care plan.” I am presently working on a full length comic on my journey with dyslexia.

My interest are many, but here is a sampling: art, cartooning, trauma care, graphic medicine, religion, spiritual wellbeing, religious trauma.
