Biography |
I have always loved art from a very young age and my biggest regret is that I have never yet had a job that involves that love especially as when I left school I spent 4 years at art college.
Having said that I do believe that if you are a creative person you can’t help interjecting an element of art in everything you do. As an artistic and creative person I believe that art has given me an eye for the small creative details and I know that it is the small details that have made all the difference in every business I have been part of over the years.
As a childminder many years ago art was something I would participate in with the children I looked after on a daily basis. It is also something that as a Mother I very much enjoyed with my daughter and now years later enjoy with my Grandson.
For 20 years I ran a very successful swimming and hydrotherapy centre and although you would think that art would not come in handy for this job it certainly did as I was able to bring a great deal of creativity into my lessons which always made them fun and vibrant and made the difference between an average swimming lesson or something that was fun, interactive and captivating for my pupils.
I currently run a BnB which is now in the top 5% of BnB’s in the world and I truly believe that it is because of its unique, interesting and artistic decor along with all the special details and individual finishing touches that I offer.
During lock down I was able to dust off my old paintbrushes and art equipment and spend many beautiful and therapeutic hours back at my drawing board and realised how much I had missed the artistic part of my life. It was art that kept me sane during this very difficult time and it is this therapeutic aspect of art that I now long to share with others.
I now have an instagram site called “ The Black and White Artist” where I have posted some of my art. The reason why I originally called myself “The Black and White Artist” was because I enjoyed painting from Black and White photos and putting my own colour interpretation on it depending on the aura that I felt from that particular portrait.
