Dr. Hannah Kalama Preston-Pita, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor.   She also has a doctorate in Education.  Dr. Hannah has an extensive work history in the substance abuse and mental health fields.  She is the current Chief Executive Officer of the Big Island Substance Abuse Council and has served as their leader for over a decade. She provides oversight of several programs that support rural underserved populations, children and adolescents – school-based programming, behavioral health care and addiction services for adults.  She is currently working on a project to expand treatment capacity on the island by building tiny home units to include stabilization beds, detox, treatment and clean and sober housing.  She has worked on several research projects and most recently has authored several children’s books.  Dr. Hannah’s passion is working with rural underserved populations, developing programs to fill the needs of Native Hawaiians, and spending time with her family.   She has received several awards which include: Hawaii Psychological Associations Rural Psychologist of the Year, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s ‘Oiwi Leadership, and Mental Health of America’s (Hawaii Division) Outstanding Mental Health Leader.
