Biography |
Born in Neuilly sur Seine, Paris, attended elementary school in Moscow, Russia; fifth through seventh grade in Washington DC. We moved to Rome, Italy (where I am originally from) for the rest of middle school and high school. (Dad in the Italian foreign service).
I started my career as a translator/interpreter at the American Embassy in Rome. Life circumstances led me to move to the United States. I was naturalized as a citizen and have been working as a free-lance translator/interpreter here ever since. I travel. I meet interesting people. I love my job.
On the side, but very intensely, I play the violin in church and with a country/bluegrass/vintage rock group (the Four Hits and a Miss) for nursing homes, rehab centers and senior centers in Virginia.
And I paint!! I am very passionate about painting and I dedicate all my free time to it.
I have been drawing faces ever since high school. Over the years, I gave them more expression and details. I studied heads in all possible positions. So challenging!! So much fun!! Then I seamlessly evolved to oil painting.
My art conveys a sense of serenity and positive outlook. In some paintings there may be an added layer of quiet solitude or hopeful patience, but a ray of light is always present. A friend commented that my paintings are “visual meditations”.
Bruce and I have been married since 2006. I am a mother (son’s name is Andrea), a mother-in-law to a wonderful woman originally from Ghana, and a grandmother.
I speak Italian, English, and French.
