I have personally gone through the process of immigration from China to the US. I worked with many immigration lawyers for more than 12 years. I have helped with the translation and interpretation of immigration paperwork and interviews for thousands of people. I have heard stories of the applicants and their families, good and bad, their life struggles, cheers and tears, and their deepest desires. My work was closely connected with a green card, which may seem so important at the time before they got them, but later on it simply marked the beginning of a real immigrant’s life.

I understand the origin of their pain, which could be all the various reasons they can put into words. But I know them deeper than that.

There is a whole ecosystem of immigrants’ collective psyche that went unaddressed, neglected, and unattended.

Then the sense of success and failure comes in a jumbled mess. This is not much literature talks about it. The main reason is that most of the immigrants, either don’t have the awareness to explore their feelings, or they were blocked up by the language barrier and ended up living without a voice.

If they are parents, their second-generation kids may not fully understand their inner conflicts and struggles. If they are spouses, they may not be able to articulate themselves and get their deepest emotional needs met by their US residents for generations. Or they might be a business partner making puzzling presentations, the counterparties found themselves tiptoeing through the relationship. Those awkwardness, discomfort, and miscommunication combined are my mission and passion. I am the coach, or the ‘consultant’ in this relationship.

I am fully equipped with the necessary knowledge and the compassion and seasoned experience to work as the medium, the glue, the bridge, or the tour guide for the conscious immigrants, their families, and their business partners to navigate through the cultural cloud, to find their unique identity, fully and consciously living in their American Dreams and fulfilling their life purpose and elevating their human experience as proud immigrants.
