Biography

Biography

I am a Tejano, a Friar Minor and Full Professor of Spirituality. I taught the theological study of Christian spirituality for 15 years at the Catholic Theological Union before moving to Rome in 2104 to work in Educational Technology at the Pontifical University Antonianum and as translator/interpreter for the OFM general Curia. I was also the pontifically appointed Secretary of the Pontifical Academy of Mary International (PAMI) from 2020-2022. In June of 2022 returned to CTU in Chicago to become the John Duns Scotus Chair of Franciscan Spirituality.

As past president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States and as a member of the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality, I continue to pursue my research and writing in the area of both Franciscan and Latino/a Spirituality.
