I waited 11 years after graduating high school to go back to college where I thought I was going to be a high school art teacher. In the middle of it, the funding assistance changed and I could not dual major (secondary education and art) the requirements to teach high school art where I was at the time. I had to pick one or the other. I already had more than half towards art so I went that way. After getting my bachelors in photography, I took a little break and sold art work for a living (not really for a living) while I tried to figure out what my next step would be. The four choices were to get a masters in education, a masters in art, horticulture, or therapist. the intution ythat washed over me when I knew I was a therapist was amaszing! I was off and running and here I am. My specialty is trauma and I LOVE my job. I always knew art therapy was going to be one of the things I was trained in, it was just a matter of time.
