Im Danielle, I’m just a small town mom who started Broken Halo Homestead & Apothecary. Im also a studying naturopathic practitioner and herbalist, because after being in the medical field for over 8 years, I felt something was missing in our system. And after Covid, I knew we needed to get back to our roots by living a more natural and holistic life. Now Im back at home with my family on our West Texas 80-acre homestead, just trying to share my journey with yall!!
I left the medical field in 2022 after being a surgeons assistant for 5 years. Between covid and politics, it just didn’t make sense or feel right anymore. I’ve always been more of a nature and naturalist, but I thought I could do more in our conventional medical system. Now Im not dissing doctors and nurses work, I’ve been there, it’s not easy! There is a time and place when we need them, but I found that putting a bandaid over the root problem was all we were doing. And after having my own health problems and not being taken seriously, I had to resort to my own research! I went back to the way i grew up, Grandma and Grandpa’s old ways!
It started with just making everything homemade. Bread, tortillas, mayo, you name it, to starting my own backyard garden for my veggies and herbs and having chickens for eggs. Even alternating medicine to herbal remedies. Then, it came to making my own soaps and detergent to be cost-effective. I started adding herbs to my craft because my kids and I are sensitive to certain fragrances in store bought products. I found this method was really working for my family! I figured if this worked for us through all the health problems we had, this is my calling, and the way I can help ppl the way I’ve been wanting to!
