I have had a lifetime career of concern for others in this world. I began working with students identified as having severe and profound disabilities in the few years before IDEA came into law. My interest has always been hoping to facilitate others’ ability to better their circumstances, hopefully in a method which includes art as a means of communication and affective expression. My undergraduate studies were a double major in Psychology and Art at The University of Puget Sound. Eventually I returned to school at Illinois State University to complete a MS in Art Therapy/Education, under the guidance of Frances E. Anderson. I was then able to become employed out of my internship into a FT position as Expressive Art Therapist for an in-patient unit addressing mental illness and, on a separate unit, addictions.
