Biography
Biography | Cherisse’s passion for social service can be traced back to her childhood, being part of a group residential facility. That experience led her to spend significant time working with underprivileged populations in Bronx, NY. As a Registered Nurse, she specialized in improving the health disparities of minority families. Cherisse began her career with Montefiore Health System in New York City, gaining unparalleled experience in School-Based Health Centers creating primary health homes for students who would otherwise receive no healthcare, while also establishing herself as a respected Associate Administrative Nurse Manager. In her 8 years with Montefiore’s School-Based Health program, she was able to oversee the growth of their Nursing department from a staff of approximately 25 members to over 40 before she relocated to Atlanta, GA. Having migrated south she began as a Clinical Nurse Manager for a pediatric practice, located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, Cherisse was able to improve clinical practice via staff training, process improvement and her clinical implementation expertise. Working as an adjunct instructor at Atlanta Technical College she has had an intricate part of training future healthcare workers before herself returning to school. In May of 2023 she became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a focused specialty in Midwifery. She now serves underserved populations providing women’s health services to a much needed population. The focus of her work is to improve the health disparities of her patients by learning and growing as a practitioner. Cherisse has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 25 years, gaining experience in process management, quality healthcare initiatives, policy writing, as well as staff training. As a seasoned Nurse Administrator, she is passionate about supporting the networks that create health access and care for the most disproportionate members of society. In addition to working as a Director of Nursing she is also involved in community engagement activities, helping families to reach their greatest potential. |
