Biography
Biography | I got my MSW from Boston College and have interned/worked with individuals and families ages 10 -80 providing psycotherapy and advocacy within schools, intensive residential treament for adolescent girls, community mental health, private practice, group practice, and an agency specializing in ADHD. I took an extended hiatus after my twins were born very premature, followed by my daughter (full term) a year later. I t was trained in and practiced DBT while working in the Intensive Residential School/ Treatment program= (not officially Linehan certified -but by Linehan certified Clinical Directors within the program. This is also when I became very interested in expressive arts therapy and we had several clinicians on staff with art therapy backgrounds. I have found it a powerful tool for connecting with clients on all levels and even in my own personal development/ healing. I have ADHD myself and am now a single mother. My sons both have Autism and ADHD. My daughter also has ADHD. We are a very neurodivergent creative bunch in our own ways. I went back to work 5 years ago and now have a very small private practice with a handful of adults (from college age -Midlife). I am really excited to be here and getting more formal training in Art Therapy (after trying to sort of build on past experience by trying to learn as much as I could on my own while my kids were little). I have really benefitted from developing my own creative practice (even though my art teacher discouraged me from doing so in elementary school because I was crappy at drawing and had bad handwriting). Would love to connect with others and share experience clinically, personally, and within this course! Process truly is everything! |
