Biography |
I began my creative journey, in 2017, when I was most fortunate to be hired as the Department Secretary for our local Cancer Radiation Department. I had a very strong desire to do something that would help the patients and caregivers have a moment of distraction in their daily lives. I began doing research, and stumbled upon the Kindness Rocks Project. The idea behind this, is that one word or act of kindness can have a huge impact on someone’s day, even their outlook on life. I continue to paint rocks for the hospital, and have a fb group for that, called Kindnessdbq. As my skills improved, I began painting other things, and exploring different creative approaches. I am now a certified kindness rocks workshop facilitator as well as a facilitator for the UPH Cancer Support Group.
I have seen and felt the positive effects of art in my own life, and witness the smiles on the faces of those that take a brain break to look at the rocks or various art pieces I have displayed. I am happy to share the love of art and creativity with those around me, to help and to heal. There is no such thing as perfection or judgement when creating.
