Biography

Biography

My experience as a creative art educator began with a BS in Art Education at Daemen College in Buffalo, New York where I taught in private and public schools for six years after graduation. I then spent the next 17 years teaching art through community education while raising my three remarkable children. In 1999 I came to New Hampshire and became involved with and eventually served two years as President of the Women’s Caucus for Art. During that time, I continued teaching community education classes and art for home schooled children. I also pursued a large commission piece which hangs in the New Hampshire State Archives building. I returned to the classroom full time in 2006 as a Para educator for two years then accepted a full-time art teaching position in 2008 at Newport Middle and High School where my focus has been on establishing higher levels of student learning related to the National Core Arts Standards and the New Hampshire state curriculum competencies. I am dedicated to helping my students stay current with technology by teaching them how to make cutting edge digital portfolios of their work using Chromebooks and Google Slide presentations. I am current in my certification and licensed K-12 as an Art Teacher in New Hampshire. I regularly participate in juried exhibitions through local galleries and exhibit student work biannually at the Library Arts Center in Newport. I am well versed in multi-media including Black and White Silver gelatin print photography, digital photography, Microsoft Publisher, Stained Glass, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture, Drawing and Painting. My travels have taken me to my father’s home country of Scotland and my mother’s home country of Canada to which I hold dual citizenship. My recent travels include Mexico and Ontario, Canada. I have also traveled to England, Honduras and Puerto Rico.
