Worked 5 years in Missouri, 20 years in California in the community and almost 10 years in their prison system.  I have done outcomes studies in asthma and domestic violence.  I have never been satisfied with the system that insists that we do everything just as the research tells us and then 6-12 years later reverses the instruction noting that we’ve all been causing harm to our patients.  I’ve also been a fan of the old style been with a health care system that forces us to see 25-40 patients daily when sometimes the most healing action we can take is to spend time with a patient to hear their story.  I have always studied herbs and traditional medicine.  I would like to be in a situation where I can apply that knowledge without putting my career and license at risk.  I am a fan of the old style rural physician who stays abreast of new knowledge but recognizes that we must understand it in context.  I have delivered well over 1000 babies.  I was able to incorporate some traditional medicine principles in that care.  I look forward to becoming more educated about those principles and to use them in helping others and in my everyday life.  Academically; I have BS degrees in Biochemistry and Biophysics.  A minor in Cultural Anthropology.  An MS in Public Health.  I have a PhD in Psychology.  I have applied all of these in my practice at various times throughout my career, though I am not a clinical Psychologist.  Rather, my studies were in organizational and community Psychology.  I have been an athlete for some of my life and remain an equestrian and dog owner.    Currently I am recovering from a major equestrian accident but anticipate continued improvement.  I am currently retired from active medical practice; and am pursuing the growth of my small farm and growing produce, herbs for culinary and medicinal use, the use of natural products such as goat’s milk and chicken eggs in my life as well as selling them.  Producing hygiene and cosmetic products from those natural products and selling them.
