Biography |
I was born and raised in Southeast Alaska in a town called Ketchikan. I lived on a float house , barge, a converted fishing boat, in a log cabin, a trailer or two, one that my dad completely built around and turned into a house for our growing family, and then finally a house on the water that overlooked the channel between our island and the island the airport was located on. I grew up with hard weather, thousands of boat trips and countless wildlife encounters. It really was extraordinary now that I look back on it as an adult.
I left Alaska at 21 and married a Navy guy. We had 4 children who are grown now with kids of their own. Which means I am a grandma and it is one of my favorite roles. I have lived in Florida, Georgia, Idaho, California and Washington as a navy wife, and after 34 years of marriage I am recently divorced and forging a new path.
I am a woman of faith and treasure the times I have with family and friends. I am active in my church and am on the worship team for sunday services. I enjoy playing games, watching movies and doing artful things with my kids and grandkids. I love engaging with music and art because they are both powerful venues for healing and creativity.
I am thankful every day for my health, my family, my job, the roof over my head, my car and every opportunity that comes my way. Life is not perfect and neither am I, but I am thankful and see how blessed I am each and every day.
