Biography

K. Partridge (“Ms. K.”)

Founder • Owner • Director • Instructor

K. Partridge, affectionately known by her students as “Ms. K.,” is the Founder, Owner and Director of Juxtaposition Fine Arts (JUX), a year-round movement and music studio in Winston-Salem built on one simple belief: The Arts are for EVERYBODY EVERY BODY. EVERY ABILITY.

Ms. K. discovered her love for dance at just two-and-a-half years old. She trained extensively in classical ballet through Charlotte City Ballet until the age of seventeen while also participating in dance ministry through Zion Center for Worship in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dance quickly became more than an activity—it became a lifelong passion and source of purpose.

After high school, she married her husband, Matt, and together they have shared more than twenty years of marriage. While pursuing a degree in Nutrition at Palomar College in California, Ms. K. faced a life-altering challenge when she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Following a serious illness and surgery, she gained a renewed perspective on life and realized that true fulfillment comes from pursuing the things that bring joy, purpose, and meaning.

Encouraged by mentors Dr. Margaret Faulkner and Patriceann Mead of the Palomar College Dance Program, she shifted her focus back to dance and persevered through significant physical obstacles to continue her training. In 2011, she graduated from Palomar College with an Associate of Arts degree in Dance, with emphasis in Euro-Western Studies, English Studies, and Humanities. She is also certified in all levels of Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT).

For more than a decade, Ms. K. has shared her love of movement with students ranging from infants to adults. Her training and teaching experience span ballet, tap, jazz, modern, acro, musical theatre, and Afro-Cuban dance styles. She is passionate about helping young artists develop not only strong technical foundations but also confidence, creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Since 2012, Ms. K. and Matt have welcomed four beautiful children, all of whom have grown up as part of the JUX family. Her experiences as both an educator and parent have shaped her vision for Juxtaposition Fine Arts as more than just a dance studio. Under her leadership, JUX has become a community-centered space that partners with preschools, supports inclusive programming through ESA+, offers after-school enrichment opportunities, and provides camps and classes that make the arts accessible to children of all backgrounds and abilities.

Ms. K. believes movement has the power to transform lives, foster belonging, and build meaningful connections. Whether she is teaching a toddler’s first dance class, coaching a musical theatre performer, or mentoring a teen through a challenging season, her goal remains the same: to create a welcoming, no-judgment environment where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to grow.

Through Juxtaposition Fine Arts, Ms. K continues to Evolve, Evoke & Inspire the next generation of artists while strengthening the Winston-Salem community through creativity, confidence, and connection.
