Biography

Levon Peter Poe

Chicago, IL | levonpoe@gmail.com

Levon Peter Muhammad Salah Setyowan Poe is a Chicago-born poet, philosopher, literary artist and advocate for healing through creative expression. A recovering addict and survivor of trauma, he brings lived experience, emotional resilience, and deep introspection to both his writing and his personal growth. His work is guided by a strong spiritual foundation shaped by his study of Islam, compassion for others, and a belief in the transformative power of love, creativity, and service.

Levon’s poetry explores themes of light and darkness, personal rebirth, social justice, science fiction, horror, surrealism and the unseen struggles of the human spirit. Many of his poems reflect on living with disability and navigating emotional pain through faith, writing, and connection. His current body of work, developed under the Shosetsu Research imprint, combines prayer, art therapy, memoir, and multiple genres of speculative fiction to reach audiences across spiritual and cultural boundaries.

He completed an Art Therapy Certificate program and is committed to using his education and lived experience to support others—especially marginalized communities—in finding their voice and reclaiming their dignity through art.

“As a practitioner and writer, I believe healing begins where expression finds form. Through art, I help people translate emotion into imagery — transforming pain into understanding, and silence into self-discovery. My mission is to guide others toward wholeness through creativity, compassion, and faith in the human spirit.”
