| Biography |
Sandra LaPrall is a self-taught award-winning abstract artist whose practice is defined as primarily intuitive, working mainly in acrylics and mixed-media collage. Each piece begins with expansive color fields, then builds depth and movement by adding multiple layers, gestural linework and textural elements. The resulting compositions are a careful balance of control and spontaneity—ultimately an invitation for the viewer to pause to find a connection between color and emotion, offering a moment of connection between the artist and the viewer.
LaPrall’s career is marked by significant creative milestones. She has curated several high-profile exhibitions and produced a unique musical production featuring the art of Marc Chagall, which debuted alongside a piano suite composed by Seth Weinstein, specifically for Chagall’s works. Her professional standing is further anchored by three solo exhibitions and participation in two museum exhibitions in the regional art community.
Beyond her studio practice, LaPrall has served as the past President of the Florida Women’s Arts Association and as a founding member of the Riverfront Arts District in Daytona Beach. A lifetime member of the Art League of Daytona Beach, she also maintains active memberships with the Ormond Memorial Arts Museum and Garden, ISEA, and the Southern Watercolor Society. Her work has been featured on the cover of Halifax Magazine and is held in private collections throughout the Midwest and Florida’s Atlantic coast.
