Biography
Veda Kagabo is a Rwandan-born visual artist based in New Jersey and the founder of Veda Studio Art. His abstract paintings explore memory, identity, trauma, resilience, and the universal search for belonging. Through layered textures and expressive compositions, he investigates how art can communicate emotions that often lie beyond words.
Having experienced displacement, profound personal loss, and the long journey of rebuilding a life across several continents, Veda understands the transformative role that creativity can play in healing. His artistic practice has become both a personal process of reflection and a way to foster empathy and human connection.
His work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and international online exhibitions, and continues to gain recognition for its emotional depth and contemplative quality. Alongside his studio practice, Veda works in a psychiatric hospital, where he has developed an even greater appreciation for the relationship between mental health, creativity, and recovery.
By pursuing formal training in Art Therapy, Veda hopes to deepen his understanding of the psychological foundations of creative expression and integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches into his lifelong commitment to healing through art. He believes that art has the power not only to preserve memory but also to restore hope, resilience, and dignity.
