I began college later in life, 23 years old, after having a child and a young divorce. I insisted on making something special of myself, in order to provide for my daughter and me. My statistics major led my career into GIS (geographic information systems), which I loved the drawing aspect! As time progressed, I went into the Electric Utility Emergency Outage Management software field, which had GIS maps as the basis for locating outages and storing information. I spent 33 years in that industry and retired comfortably. My daughter went into a similar career and it is doing very well as a single lady, still awaiting her “knight and shining armor” man to come along! 🙂
As retirement continued, I realized I needed to go through a physical and mental health wellness phase due to loss, or grief, I was struggling with, in my life. I attended my first week long wellness retreat program and have become convinced this is where I belong to give back to others in need, in this life, to complete my legacy on this earth.
