Biography |
I have always been a creative type, I always loved colouring/ drawing and making things as a child.
My mother was a dressmaker. I was instantly drawn to beads, lace, fabrics, sequins etc. I learnt to sew at a very early age by her. Although I enjoyed the creative side of this, the profession wasn’t for me and the pressure to follow in her footsteps was too much. (I had no intention to take over the family business.)
I wanted to join the theater, stage construction, costume department, anything behind scenes.
My father flatly refused that his only daughter, drop out of school to join the theater.
So, I eventually became an apprentice hairdresser, learning a trade, harnessing my skills, using my creativity and going on to excel in this as a competition winner, salon owner, Trainer and assessor, international hairstylist, living in Europe.
After 40+ years it was time for a change. I have since returned to Australia and embarked on a new career in the field of early childhood development and care. This has led me to the path of child psychology and here I am undertaking Art therapy.
