May Sheriff, Artist

May Sheriff is an American artist. She grew up in a large family in New Jersey. May got what you might call a late start in art. At 31 she began learning art techniques and basic principles, and applied them to ministry to the deaf community. It wasn’t until retirement that May became “religious” about her art. She started by watching Bob Ross and making “happy little accidents” that shaped her into the artist she is today. In 2020, with the shutdown due to the pandemic, May learned to access and stream artists’ videos on YouTube where she learned from artists all around the world. This expanded her techniques, media types and art genre; abstract, portrait, nature and fine art still life… watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints.

May produces a painting a day. Often times joined by friends who learn and grow from Mays influences. Her love of painting mirrors her love and dedication to her family and friends.

May took her art from a hobby to a profession and is now a commissioned artist.
