Biography

Biography

My name is Susan Becar-Guzman, and I was born in Chile. For the past 25 years, I’ve called the United States home, and I currently live in Plano, Texas. Art and creativity have always been central to my life—woven into who I am. I was lucky to grow up in a rich artistic heritage, surrounded by Chilean painters, sculptors, architects, and poets in my family. Their passion shaped my earliest inspirations.

After graduating from an all-girls Catholic high school in Chile, I moved to the U.S. to pursue my college education. As I was learning English, I also dove deeper into my love for art and design. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and Sculpture from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). During my time there, I discovered a deep connection with Sacred Geometry, which continues to influence my artwork and digital design to this day.

Nature is my greatest muse. My work draws inspiration from the unseen beauty of microorganisms, the ever-changing ocean, and the vibrant energy of the living earth. Through my art, I express a wide spectrum of emotions—love, rage, serenity, conflict, secrecy, anticipation, impulse, stillness—all of it rooted in the human experience.

My pieces are abstract, organic, and intricately detailed. Many of them glow in the dark, brought to life through layers of glow-in-the-dark acrylics, oils, and metallic paints. In my studio, I create hand-crafted shadows and use them to shape some of my compositions. Every piece is a reflection of my body, mind, and spirit. The emotions I carry flow through my hand and into each creation, making every artwork a piece of me.
