Biography

Biography

I’m a teacher and artist, using reclaimed wire and other salvaged materials to create sculptures – mainly of birds. My three huge ‘Junk Gulls’ are currently touring around Worcester on the UK’s only movable plinth, and my ‘Hare Woman on a Bike’ is riding through the meadows at The Canwood Gallery just outside of Hereford.  I also regularly exhibit at the RBSA in Birmingham and The Artery Studios, under Worcester Arches.

In addition to teaching Art and English at The Chase School in Malvern, I am also the Sustainability Lead, and feel passionately that we must adapt our school curriculum to include explicit teaching on the climate crisis, sustainability, and nature connectedness.  I’ve written articles addressing this for The Teaching Times, and work closely with University College London’s Climate Change & Sustainable Education department, plus The Ministry of Eco Education.  I’ve spoken on Green and Climate Education (WEF), have contributed to the World Wildlife Fund’s Sustainability Schools Guide, and have co-writing a chapter on embedding Climate Education within the PSHE curriculum.

Both art and nature can be a powerful tool to help us slow down, encourage presence, and boost mental and physical health.
