Biography

Biography

My name is Shelby Shea. I am a 25-year-old woman with a deep passion for healthcare, science, creativity, and improving the well-being of others. I live in Aroostook County, Maine, and graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a Bachelor’s degree in Self-Designed Biology, combining biomedical research, biology pre-med coursework, and medical laboratory technology studies.

I have over 10 years of customer service and patient experience, more than six years of phlebotomy experience, and extensive backgrounds in healthcare administration, laboratory operations, biomedical research, logistics, scheduling, patient advocacy, and multidisciplinary care coordination. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with patients, providers, laboratories, and healthcare teams to ensure compassionate, efficient, and high-quality care while continually seeking ways to improve processes and patient outcomes.

My passion for healthcare extends beyond treating symptoms. I believe in caring for the whole person by understanding the root causes of illness and supporting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I have long been fascinated by holistic health, preventive medicine, and the powerful role natural remedies have played throughout history. Many of today’s pharmaceutical medications originated from compounds first discovered in nature, and I believe there is tremendous value in combining evidence-based medicine with lifestyle interventions, nutrition, mental wellness, and holistic approaches to help individuals achieve lasting health.

Outside of healthcare, I am also an artist, writer, educator, and the creator and host of the podcast Starlit Studios: Where Artists Speak, where I share conversations with artists, makers, musicians, and other creatives about their journeys and the impact creativity has on our lives.

Through my business, Stars and Moon Art and Poetry, I organize community art events, workshops, and retreats designed to make art accessible to everyone regardless of experience or financial circumstances. My goal is to build stronger communities, encourage self-expression, and promote mental health by creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, heal, and grow through creativity. I firmly believe that art is a powerful tool for reducing stress, fostering resilience, and improving overall well-being.

Whether working in healthcare or the arts, my mission remains the same: to help people live healthier, more connected, and more fulfilling lives through compassion, education, science, creativity, and community.
